Thank You all for the condolences.

We had Piper tested for CRF also, since she is Flairs twin and they were real sickly when they came to live here. Piper has always been tiny. The vet said she doesnt have CRF but is FIV+. She must have been born with it. She doesnt have to be isolated from the others because everyones fixed and theres no real fighting here, just alot of posturing, whapping, hissing and threats. The vet acted like we were thrilled that she had the FIV+. It wasnt that we were just so happy she wasnt in CRF, we just knew she was. She just has to be monitored more for illnesses and cant be around anyone really sick as her immune system is repressed. There is medicine she could take but it wouldnt do alot for her. Shes lived her whole life to now without any meds and she didnt get sick here. Shes a happy, somewhat healthy girl, just sad about her brother, but she still has a good life in front of her.

We are glad to hear it wasn't CRF. Cats with FIV can live a pretty normal, healthy life, so that is much better than CRF. Our Rambler has FIV, but since he was an older male when he came here, we decided to keep him isolated from the others. He doesn't mind though, he's so happy to be off the streets and gets lots of attention from our humans.

Hey... does your vet know about treating FIV with steroid shots? Our dear Kitty (Katie Too was named for her) lived to be 19 with FIV by having steroid shots every so often.
I can get you the info from Indian Hills Animal Clinic if you need it.

We're glad to know that Piper doesn't have the icky CRF, even if she is FIV positive.

Sending purrs to all of you,
